What is Tyvek?
Our travel wallets are made from Tyvek® by DuPont™.
What’s Tyvek®, you say? Let me tell you. It’s a spun polymer. This means it's not a woven product like a fabric but made from small fibres that are bonded and heat-pressed together.
It feels a bit like paper but it is not paper. It can’t be ripped or torn but it can be punctured with a sharp object such as scissors.
It is lighter than paper and not as bulky as leather or, *shudders*, vinyl which many passport covers are made from.
It is UV-coated so it will not fade in the sun. It is water resistant, but not waterproof. The odd splash won't harm it, but don't go diving with it.
Tyvek® is durable and virtually indestructible and at the end of its life, it can be recycled.
It holds colour beautifully so your map not only looks great but you can write on it too. Oh…and (I think) it feels lovely. It’s soft as a peach and smooth as satin.
Like a well-travelled passport or a beautiful weathered face, it too will show the signs of adventure. It will soften around the edges and gain a few crinkles. Embrace the changes, the dents and lines as there is a story behind them all.
Our Guarantee: If for any reason your wallet rips or tears then tell us, send it back and we’ll replace it. For free. No questions asked.
